What is Men’s Body Contouring?
Men’s body contouring can help sculpt the areas that highlight the optimal male figure. This appearance can include flat abs, broad shoulders, and narrow hips, as well as toned muscles. The most common technique used to accomplish these goals is liposuction. Gynecomastia, or a male chest reduction, is another common treatment in body contouring. Other surgeries men turn to include blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), rhinoplasty, neck lift, and/or facelift.
Any man who struggles with excess fat, loose skin, and general dissatisfaction with his body, is a potential candidate for men’s body contouring. The best candidates are healthy, non-smokers who understand the process and have realistic expectations of plastic surgery in New York.
The Procedure
Dr. Maman will discuss your goals, questions, and procedure in great detail during your consultation and preoperative appointments. He will conduct a physical examination during your initial visit and will address your medical and surgical history to have a comprehensive understanding of your needs. Dr. Maman will discuss with you your treatment plan, thoroughly exploring all your options, and help you identify realistic and reasonable goals.
Liposuction
When excess fat seems impossible to correct with regular exercise and diet, liposuction can help. With this method of plastic surgery in New York, small incisions are made in trouble areas allowing access to fat, which is loosened with a wand-like device. Suction is then used to remove the fat from the body. Liposuction not only eliminates the fat, but it also helps make the underlying muscles more visible. Skin is smoother, and muscles appear more toned.
Results and Recovery
Results are almost immediate, depending on the procedure. Once swelling and bruising subsides, which is usually within two weeks, results are more visible. Dr. Maman will give you all the necessary information for at-home care to help support a quick and successful recovery. You will receive bandaging, compression garments, medication, and follow-up appointments. For many procedures, it is essential to avoid any heavy exercise for a couple of weeks. Full recovery typically takes about four to six weeks.
